Cannabis grow houses are no longer a rare phenomenon in Albania as in 2022 alone, 30 such were caught across the country.

This number shows that the figures are more than doubled compared to previous years. It is mainly about housing adapted for the cultivation of narcotics, where the involvement of the whole family is not missing, as was the most recent case in Shkodra. 

These drug growers choose remote areas to escape the police, but there are many cases when these grow houses are caught in big cities like Tirana or Shkodra. 

As far as the equipment is concerned, they are almost the same as those in England, where we are used to often hearing cases of Albanians fleeing for a better life, agreeing to carry out illegal activities. 

Such a house mainly has large electric lamps, flower pots, ventilation equipment, etc., which serve the growth of narcotic plants in a closed environment, where the electricity must not be disconnected at any time. 

It is precisely the experience of young people working in England in such an activity and their deportation to Albania after serving the sentence if caught by the police, that has led to an increase in the number of grow houses in our country. 

Cultivators usually use dwellings adapted for the cultivation of narcotics, although there have been cases when warehouses, tunnels or other abandoned premises have also been used.
