Cannabis Trafficked via Post from the U.S.: Tirana Prosecution Reveals Eight Cases in One Month, Over 15 kg of High-THC Cannabis Seized

Tirana Prosecution Office, working jointly with the State Police and Albanian Post Office, has dismantled eight shipments of cannabis trafficking from the United States to Albania during April.

Shipped via postal services, the high-THC narcotics were identified through proactive investigations and found to be widespread across much of the country.

Over the course of the last month alone, Tirana Prosecution detected cases of such a trafficking activity in Tirana, Shkodër, Fier, Elbasan, and Vorë. Investigations remain ongoing regarding additional cases.

Thus far, authorities have seized a total of 15.2 kilograms of high-THC cannabis related to these eight incidents, while twelve individuals have been arrested or declared wanted for their alleged engagement in this criminal activity. Several were apprehended in the act while collecting the illicit shipments at different branches of Albanian Post.

Efforts continue to identify and take into custody other people suspected of being engaged in this trafficking network.
