Car Enters Nursery in Italy, Five Injured, One Child Dies

An accident has occurred this Thursday at a nursery in L’Aquila,  Italy, where a group of children who were playing in the garden of a nursery were hit by a car which penetrated the outer fence and hit the toddlers.

Children are at the age of three to five years old. Five children were injured and one of them has passed away in the hospital in Rome due to big injuries.

The car was parked on a downhill road and belonged to a mother who had gone to pick up her son from the garden leaving the vehicle parked. According to the first evidence gathered at the scene, the woman had left the eldest son, around the age of 8, inside the car. The child managed to remove the brake causing the car to end up in the nursery garden.

"I am deeply saddened, I can not even imagine the pain that the parents of injured children are feeling. As a father and as a representative of institutions I am terrified. It is terrible news. We hope and pray that the number of victims does not worsen," declared the mayor of L’Aquila, Pierluigi Biondi, after visiting the accident place.
