Clashes Erupt Between Students and Democratic Party Supporters During Protest Outside Education Ministry
Tensions escalated outside Ministry of Education as students protesting at the site confronted Democratic Party lawmakers and their supporters who joined the demonstration.
A student attempted to approach the opposition representatives and ask them to leave the protest, while other demonstrators greeted their arrival with chants of: “Rama in prison, Berisha in prison,” referring to Prime Minister Edi Rama and opposition leader Sali Berisha.
The demonstration continued amid clashes between students and Democratic Party supporters, with young protesters forming a human cordon to prevent the opposition group from moving closer.
The students demanded that the lawmakers leave the demonstration, insisting that the protest should remain focused on the students and their demands.
Meanwhile, Democratic Party supporters continued chanting slogans against the government, including: “We want Albania without Edi Rama” and “Down with communism, down with the Soros supporters.”
The confrontation highlighted growing tensions at the protest, as students sought to distance their demonstration from political party involvement while opposition supporters voiced their own political demands.
