Co-governance Draft Passed despite Discord
The government’s draft for co-governance has sparked debate during the session of the Committee on Legal Affairs on Tuesday. The Socialists claimed that the draft gives citizens the opportunity to offer their help and ideas in many initiatives. On the other hand, the opposition MPs maintained that this law creates legal and constitutional clashes regarding the responsibilities of institutions towards citizens who need services. The opposition also stated that this law paves the way for the legitimation of the patronage system in the country.
Nonetheless, the legal initiative was approved only with 13 votes of the ruling majority, while the 6 MPs of the opposition voted against and demanded the repeal of the articles.
The draft law “On co-governance” foresees that “Albania we want” platform where citizens’ complaints were addressed will now act as the Agency for Dialogue and Co-governance.
