Drugs elimination police operation was carried out this Tuesday noon in the Port of Durres, where a quantity of about 11 kilograms and 650 grams were found and seized as material evidence, the Albaniandailynews.com has learned.

Information at hand indicates that the cocaine was found after a check by the Border Police in the Durres Port, where the scanner showed that the container had undergone modifications in its base, in which the drugs were later found hidden.

Nevertheless, the shipment came on behalf of the Albanian company "Alba Exotic fruit", based in Kombinat, Tirana, and operating in the market since 2011, while its owners are Eduart Dauti and Barjon Gumeni.

Two days ago, the container had arrived at the Port of Durres and was under the surveillance of the authorities to apprehend the person who was going to pick up the cargo. This person, whose identity is not yet known, was remanded into custody, while the authorities also accompanied the manager of the Albanian firm that had ordered the consignment of bananas.

The 'Alba Exotic Fruit' company is mentioned before in the history with drug trafficking, as in 2019, in the containers of this company, in Piraeus, Greece, 137 kg of cocaine were found, which was replaced by rice containing GPS by the authorities.
