CoE Parliamentary Assembly Votes Pro Kosovo's Membership

On Tuesday, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe voted the Kosovo's application to the Council of Europe. The Kosovo's application was voted with 131 votes pro, 29 against and 11 abstains.

This comes after the successful approval of the report of the rapporteur for Kosovo, Dora Bakoyannis, by the Committee on Political Affairs and Democracy of the Council of Europe, through which it was concluded that Kosovo has fulfilled the conditions to become a full member of the Council of Europe.

The head of Kosovar diplomacy, Donika Gërvalla, and the deputy minister, Kreshnik Ahmeti, were in Strasbourg to hold meetings and coordinate actions with partners and allies, who are supporting Kosovo on the way to membership in this important international organization.

There was also a delegation of the Assembly of Kosovo, which is led by the deputy speaker of the Assembly, Saranda Bogujevci. Kosovo applied in May 2022 for Kosovo's membership in the Council of Europe. Serbia is against Kosovo's membership in this organization.
