Covid-19, Albania Registers Over 360 Fatalities as Recoveries Increase

Coronavirus-related deaths have grown by 4 more victims during the last 24 hours in Albania while 52 nationals have healed from the virus, taking the total number of deaths from the virus up to 362. The victims as Health Ministry reported were a 64-year-old from Korça andthree citizens from Tirana: a 71-year-old, an 81-year-old, an 89-year-old.

Dr. Eugena Tomini from the Institute of Public Health (ISHP) revealed Sunday that 844 tests were performed and 159 infected with Sars-Cov2 virus were confirmed. The most affected city was Tirana with 68 new cases, but Devoll, Lezha, Librazhd and Kocova had the lowest number of the infected.

“The new cases are in the following municipalities: 68 citizens in Tirana, 14 in Durrës, 13 in Elbasan, 11 in Shkodra, 9 in Berat, 6 citizens in each Kruja, Gjirokastra, 5 in Pogradec, 3 in Korça, 2 new cases in each Kurbin, Kukës, Has, Kavaja, Kamza, Dibra, Bulqiza, Gramsh, Maliq, 1 case in each Devoll, Lezha, Librazhd, Peqin, Kuçova, Vora”, Tomini said.

On the other hand, ISHP representative added that in the Infectious Diseases Hospital and "Shefqet Ndroqi" Hospital are being treated185 patients, 15 in intensive therapy, 6 of whom have been put on aspirators.

"Masks are a necessity to be worn wherever the environment is closed, in hospitals, health centers, shops, supermarkets, hairdressers, taxis, workplaces, service offices. We remind once again that any case identified positive must be self-isolated and that breaking of the rules by anyone will be considered a danger to the life and health of others", appealed Tomini.
