COVID-19, Albania’s Infections and Fatalities Climb

Slight escalation of the pandemic situation was noticed during these last 24 hours in Albainia, as the health authorities revealed that 234, 109 infections more than a day ago were found all over the country. The Ministry of Health informed Tuesday that these numbers were extracted after virus examinations were performed on 2862 citizens.

Unfortunately, the figure of the coronavirus-related deaths has increased by 1, considering that 5 people have passed away in these 24 hours. The victims were: 3 citizens from Tirana, 1 citizen from Durrës, 1 citizen from Korça aged 78-85 years.

However, Tirana keeps leading the list of the-most-virus-stricken area, since it has had 55 new cases in the last 24 hours, followed by Shkodra, Korca and Pogradec, with respectively 23, 14 and 13 new infections.

Luckily, 634 citizens have been cured from the disease in the last 24 hours, bringing the number of recoveries to 98,903 since the beginning of the epidemic. Nevertheless, Albania is currently struggling with 27523 active cases and has had 128752 infections since the outbreak began.

At the moment, 192 patients are being treated in COVID hospitals in Tirana and three regional hospitals, 16 in intensive therapy, of which 3 patients are intubated.

To curb the spread of the SARS-CoV-2, the Ministry of Health and Social Protection urges citizens not to lower their vigilance and continue to apply anti-COVID rules by putting on protective masks in any environment outside the home; avoiding gatherings and maintaining physical distancing, also taking care of personal hygiene in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
