DP Demands Transparency over Greece’s Doubling of Territorial Waters

The Democratic Party (DP) urged PM Edi Rama to be transparent over Greece’s doubling of territorial waters by12 miles from Greece.

In a Facebook post, the deputy chairman of the Democratic Party, Edi Paloka confirmed that Edi Rama has given consent for the extension of 12 miles. He stressed that maritime law experts claim that the 12-mile extension requires the consent of the other state.

"Edi Rama must be transparent and not hide behind conspiracies. Experts in the field have clearly stated: According to international law, due to the geographical position of the two countries "including coasts facing" the delimitation of the sea has special specifics, so the unilateral declaration of one side for the 12-mile extension can not be applied without the consent of the other party,” Paloka said.

He asked Rama to be transparent about how enlargement affects the Albanian border.
