Easter Celebrated in Albania and Around the world
Christians around the world are celebrating Easter.
All Christians, from Orthodox and Western churches, are observing the holiday on the same day this year - not often the case because the churches use different calendars.
In Albania masses were held at the Catholic Cathedral “St. Paul” and the Orthodox Cathedral “Resurrection of Christ” in Tirana.
“On this holy day, we are all invited to participate in this joy. Sacrifices are necessary for our spiritual healing.
Perhaps today more than ever, our world needs the message of Easter. The resurrection of Christ promises us a different future. He has made us partakers of His resurrection. Sacrifices, like blessing, are not easy, but they are necessary,” Archbishop Joan said during the Mass.
Meanwhile, in Greece the sky lit up with fireworks, while worshippers in Jerusalem lit candles at the church where Jesus is said to have been crucified and buried.
Here is a look at how some have been celebrating the holiday as days of festivities culminate in Easter Sunday.
