Elbasan Murders, SPAK Demands 42 Years in Prison for Defendants

The Special Prosecutor's Office asked the court to sentence Juliano Hoxha and Euglen Halili to 42 years in prison, accused of murdering Regis Runaj and Emiljano Ramazan in the summer of 2020 in Elbasan.

SPAK requested a 30-year prison sentence for Juliano Hoxha as the person who cooperated with Halilaj to carry out the murder of 27-year-old Rigers Runaj, as well as the monitoring of the movements of Emiljano Ramazani.

From the investigations, it was found that Halilaj is the person who stabbed Rigers Runaj 27 times with a knife while they were both traveling on a motorbike. Because Halilaj cooperated with the prosecution, SPAK asked the court to sentence him to 12 years of imprisonment.

Runaj was found dead near the cemetery in the "Emin Matraxhiu" neighborhood in Elbasan, while Emiljano Ramazani was shot dead when he was parking his car at the entrance to the building where he lived. The victim's father, Jetnor Runaj, was present at Tuesday's session and called on the court to deliver justice.

"I want justice for the boy's murder. I want these two guys to get what they deserve, nothing more. Every day I sit on the stairs and wait for the boy, but he does not come."

From the investigation of the prosecutor's office, it has been found that the murders were committed on the orders of Erion Alibej, who is being tried in another trial. He had the role of financier, while the murder of Emiljano Ramazni was carried out by Skerdi Tase who was assisted by Nuredin Dumani and Henrik Hoxhaj.

It turns out that Halili and Hoxha followed the victim's movements and then informed the perpetrators to carry out the execution. According to the prosecution, there were suspicions that Emiljano Ramazani had participated in the triple murder in Bradashe where his brother Indrit Alibej lost his life.
