Prosecution Closes Investigations on PM Escort’s Assault in 2019
The Prosecution of the Judicial District of Elbasan has closed the investigation for the attack on the escort of the Prime Minister Edi Rama during a working visit in Librazhd.
It is learned that the defendants were the chairmen of the Democratic Party of Elbasan branches and a former MP.
DP officials have been charged with "Organizing, participating in rallies, illegal demonstrations", "Obstructing the circulation of vehicles" and "Obstructing electoral subjects".
As reported, the defendant was Bujar Vreto, chairman of the Democratic Party in Librazhd, Aurel Bylykbashi, former deputy of the Democratic Party in Elbasan, Arjan Karriqi, chairman of the Democratic Party in Prrenjas, two secretaries of the Democratic Party, Leonard Ozuni and Erlind Gurra as well as two DP sympathizers, Bujar Kojku and Dashamir Boja.
The incident occurred on June 13, 2019 at the entrance of Librazhd, where the Prime Minister's escort was attacked with heavy weapons. For their part, the defendants have described this process as political revenge of the government and have several times denounced for deliberate procrastination and endless extension of the investigation.
