Electricity Production totaled 7,836 GWh in 2024
Domestic electricity production in 2024 reached 7,836 GWh, of which, 4,371 GWh was produced by the public company KESH, and 3,465 GWh was produced by other power plants.
According to the annual report of the Energy Regulatory Authority (ERE), the total installed electricity production capacity in Albania until December 31, 2024, was around 3,213 MW. This capacity has had an increase compared to 2023 of around 537 MW.
The increase in installed capacity throughout the year comes mainly as a result of the increase in renewable sources of photovoltaic electricity.
According to the report, the electricity production capacity of the public company KESH is 1,563 MW and constitutes about 48.6% of the installed capacity in our country, while other electricity producers have a capacity of 1,650 MW and constitute about 51.4% of this capacity.
Electricity production plants are connected to both the electricity transmission network and the distribution network.
The installed capacity of plants connected to the transmission network during 2024 is about 2,679 MW and the installed capacity of plants connected to the distribution network during 2024 is about 534 MW.
