Today marks 11 years since the protest of January 21, 2011 where 4 Albanian protesters were killed on the boulevard of the nation's martyrs. 

On January 21, Aleks Nika, Ziver Veizi, Hekuran Deda and Faik Myrtaj lost their lives in front of the Prime Minister's Office, in a protest called by the Socialist Party. The first investigation led as defendants in the event Ndrea Prendi and Agim Llupo, who were sentenced by the appeal to 1 and 3 years in prison for "negligent murder". 

More than a decade after the event, the Tirana prosecutor's office resumed investigations into the 4 victims Hekuran Deda, Aleks Nika, Ziver Veizi and Faik Myrtaj and the injury of 6 others. The police handed over the letter to the prosecutor, where a re-investigative expertise was requested, one day before the tenth anniversary of the serious event. 

Albaniandailynews.com learned that the police seeks of re-inspection of the bullet found in Alex Nika's body, if there are forensic laboratories in the EU and abroad that are able to examine it. 

The pages of the blue uniforms demanded an investigative re-inspection to determine the direction of the shooting for the murder of Aleks Nika and Hekuran Deda, and the wounding of Fatos Mahmataj, Sokrat Godes, Erald Bisha, Artes Dybeli, lia Qesko and llia Papas. It was also requested to interrogate the guards and persons participating in the rally, relatives of the victims and witnesses who were with them at the time of the event.

January 21, 2011: The event of January 21, 2011 is one of the most painful in our country, where Aleks Nika, Ziver Veizi, Hekuran Deda and Faik Myrtaj were killed. Numerous protesters addressed the Prime Minister, opposing the rules set by the government. The country at that time was under the leadership of former Prime Minister Sali Berisha, former Interior Minister Lulzim Basha and the Republic Guard was under the command of Ndrea Prendi. 

The court assessed that the murders of Ziver Veizi, Faik Myrtaj and Hekuran Dedaj occurred out of negligence and sentenced the former Guard commander, Ndrea Prendi to one year in prison, and the guard Agim Llupo to 3 years. Ziver Veizi, Faik Myrtaj, Hekuran Deda and Aleks Nika were declared "Martyrs of the Fatherland" at the 10th memorial. As every year, this January 21, there will be homage from family members and politicians in the country where the protesters were killed. Undoubtedly, January 21 is one of the most serious events while the families of the victims, there is nothing else that this event has not been uncovered and continues to produce debate.
