EUR 13.5M for Connecting Roads in Llogara Tunnel
The construction of connecting roads in the Llogara Tunnel will cost around Lek 1.33 billion or Euro 13.5 million. The Albanian Road Authority has prepared the tender that is expected to be active in the near future, in order to select the company that will implement the project.
In parallel, the tender for the supervision of the works is also planned, with a limit fund of Lek 26.67 million, Scan TV reported.
The Llogara Tunnel was opened for traffic during the summer season last year. Meanwhile, in October it was closed again, to conclude the works in the emergency tunnel. The final opening of the tunnel is expected within this year, while the vehicles will have to pay to use the tunnel. The toll fee been not been announced yet.
The construction of the Llogara tunnel began in November 2021 through a contract worth Lek 17 billion. It is 6 km long and consists of the main tunnel and the emergency tunnel.
It is part of Orikum - Himara road section and starts 500 m north-west of the Shën Eliza bridge on the Dukat - Llogara road segment and ends 1.3 km west of the Palasa bridge, completely avoiding the Llogara Pass. Passing through the tunnel shortens the access time to the south of the country by about 45 minutes.
