Ex-Bulqiza Mayor to Remain in Jail for Corruption
The claim that he has health problems was not enough for the Special Court of Appeal to assign a milder security measure than that of prison arrest for the former Mayor of Bulqiza, Lefter Alla.
Thus, the former Mayor will continue to stay in the cell where he has been since March 16, when he was arrested by order of SPAK for abuse of office.
In this way, the Appeal decided to uphold the decision of the first instance. Enkeleda Lleshi - Deputy Mayor of the municipality, Erion Isaku - Director of Urban Planning, Kujtim Zogu - Director of Civil Protection, Rubin Kola - Urban Planning Engineer, Denis Xholi - Former Legal Director, Arsen Gjoka - Director of NJVKSH will still remain in prison, together with the administrators of the winning companies of the tender, Aqif Konesha, Rasim Daçi and Dalo Gazidedja. While under house arrest will remain, Ana Nishku and Kastriot Ibrahimi.
Alla was put in handcuffs by order of SPAK because he is charged with two charges, that of corruption and abuse of public tenders.
These persons, in cooperation with each other, are suspected of having committed illegal actions in awarding a tender worth 3 million euros for the construction of a water supply chain in the city of Bulqiza.
The tender of the municipality was won by a company which is thought to have been favored during the procedure. But the works were carried out by another company, owned by a friend of the Mayor.
