Ex-DP Chair Candidate Accuses Basha of Being Part of Albania’s Oligarchy

Former candidate for the position of Democratic Party (DP) Chairperson, Edith Harxhi has accused Monday the Leader of DP, Lulzim Basha of being part of Albania’s oligarchy as she stressed that the second largest political structure is “completely captured” by the current Chair and oligarchy.

According to Harxhi, the Opposition Leader introduced himself as a Western leader, but his behavior is eastern, even reminiscent of the notorious Albanian dictator Enver Hoxha.

"It is not the education in the west that makes you, but your passion for politics and justice. DP goes from crisis to crisis, as it has an on duty a chairman who continues to clean up the party and this reminds me of the time of dictator Hoxha.

In the next elections, I will again be a candidate for the elections in the Democratic Party, I will be in opposition and I will seek an opposition without corruption where free debate is allowed", said Harxhi.

However, this statement by Harxhi came after she was excluded from DP’s new National Concil, along with the former Secretary General, Arben Ristani.

The winning list of members of the National Council, which included the names of 300 members who will be in the National Council of this political force for the next 4 years was announced on Sunday.
