Ex-PM to Document Police's 'Crimes' in Lazarat Anti-Drugs OP

Chairman of the Democratic Party (DP), Sali Berisha promised Monday that an investigation group on how the police acted in Lazarat during the anti-drug operation will be established.

In a statement to the media after meetings with the residents in Southern Albania, Berisha declared that Prime Minister Edi Rama and imprisoned Former Interior Minister Saimir Tahiri have committed crimes against humanity in this village.

"We will set up investigation groups for what happened in Lazarat by the police and I tell Edi Rama that he will receive the deserved punishment for each of them.

I came back more impressed than ever in 30 years from a visit, from my visit to Lazarat. What did I find there? In the short talks, I found that Edi Rama and Saimir Tahiri have committed crimes against humanity in this village. True crimes with their anti-drug operation.

The criminal gangs in uniform did not hesitate to put the barrel of the machine gun on the 2-3 year old child, the mother who was protecting the children, and shoot the village headman because he was doing his duty. Lazarati has never seen such terrorism in his life.

I guarantee the residents that very soon I will organize teams and investigation groups to collect and record these crimes. I tell Edi Rama that he will receive the deserved punishment for these crimes. We remain the party of law enforcement, but we can never accept brutality against persons without any relation to their operation", said Berisha.
