Flamingos Flock to Albanian Ohrid Lake Coast
Dozens of Flamingos were spotted to Lake Ohrid in Pogradec, Albania. This is a rare phenomenon occurring for the first time in this lake.
Flamingos, birds with thin and arched necks and graceful legs, have chosen the village of Tushemisht to rest and receive attention from citizens and visitors.
Bird watchers showed astonishment for the arrival of this bird, while adding that their stay is temporary.
For days they have fascinated many visitors who expressed surprise how the cold waters of the Lake may welcome this kind of bird, which typically searches for warmer temperatures. Flamingos have recently returned even to Narta Lagoon in Vlora, an important waterfowl habitat, after a long absence.
Flamingos are social birds that live in groups of varying sizes, from a few pairs to sometimes thousands or tens of thousands. Their numbers add to the impressiveness of ritualized flamingo displays.
