Former Interior Minister Sentenced to Jail
Special Court for Corruption and Crime sentenced with five years of jail former Interior Minister, Saimir Tahiri. The decision given this Friday evening, while the Special Anti-Corruption Prosecution known as SPAK in Albania has requested a sentence of 12 years in prison for former Interior Minister Saimir Tahiri.
Due to the accelerated procedure, former minister will suffer only 3 years and 4 months in jail for abuses with his duty as a minister.
Tahiri was charged for drug trafficking and structured criminal group in September 2019. Earlier he was sentenced by the Serious Crimes Court to 5 years in prison for abuse of office, a sentence which was converted to 3.4 years due to shortened trial.
