Elbasan Incinerator, Koka Sentenced to 5.8 Years in Jail
Former Environment Minister Lefter Koka was sentenced to 5.8 years in prison for the charges related to the Elbasan incinerator affair.
Koka is found guilty of the charges of passive corruption and money laundering, and not guilty of the charge of abuse of office.
Meanwhile, former Socialist MP Alqi Blako has been acquitted of the charges related to the Elbasan incinerator case, but continues to remain in prison due to the charges he has regarding the Fier incinerator affair.
GJKKO (Special Court against Corruption and Organized Crime) has also sentenced Klodian Zoto, Mirel Mërtir and Stela Gugalljan, who are accused of being involved in the Elbasan incinerator affair.
The court decided to sentence Zoto and Mürtir to 6 years and 8 months of imprisonment, from 10 years, after benefiting from a shortened trial.
On the other hand, Gugallja has been sentenced to 4 years and 8 months from the 7 years that were originally required, due to the shortened trial.
The court has also decided the sentences for Pëllumb Abeshin - 2 years and 8 months, Jonida Zeqon - 2 years and 8 months and Serafin Papa - 1 year and 4 months.
