French Football Legend Presents Book against Racism in Albania

The legend of the French National Team, Lilian Thuram is in Albania for the promotion of his book, already translated into Albanian, "White Thinking".

Thuram was received by the mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, with whom it is learned that he discussed new sports initiatives as well as the promotion of the fight against racism.

"I am in Tirana to present my book, which has been translated into Albanian, and I hope it will change people's mindset. Sometimes people have prejudices and don't understand where they come from. But, I believe that it is always necessary to know the history, in order to move forward", said Lilian Thuram.

Even the mayor Veliaj appreciated Thuram's initiatives, especially at a time when in Europe there is more and more discussion about the increase in the spirit of xenophobia.

"It is a great pleasure to have in Tirana a champion, a true legend, like Lilian Thuram. His book, "White Thinking", is truly one of the most beautiful gifts that comes to us, in contribution with the French Embassy. I can't wait for you to encourage our boys and girls to understand that sport is definitely beneficial for health and a healthy body, but above all for a winning mentality and a team game, which we really need today.

Thank you very much, especially in the context where there is a lot of discussion in Europe and there is a spirit of xenophobia and racism. Even in Albania, there was a debate about the reception of immigrants, when we ourselves were an immigrant nation. There couldn't be a better moment for these fantastic messages", emphasized Veliaj.

Lilian Thuram is a football legend with a rich and influential career off the field as well. He won the World Cup with the French national team in 1998 and played a key role in their success. After the end of his football career, Thuram has engaged in charity activities and has raised his voice for justice and social equality.
