Despite the high prices of hydrocarbons in Albania, the peak of the tourist season has brought an increase in fuel imports and consumption, related to increased movements during the holiday period, the arrival of emigrants, and the increase in the flow of tourists visiting Albania.

Official data from the General Directorate of Customs show that after several months of continuous decline due to the increase in oil prices, the month of July brought a change, causing the imported quantity to be higher than in July 2025.

Specifically, during July, 75.7 thousand tons of fuel were cleared from customs, out of 70.9 thousand tons that were imported in July 2025, resulting in an increase of 4,861 tons.

But despite the increase in July, it seems that the figures have not compensated for what has happened throughout the year.

If a 7-month comparison is made, it is noted that for January-July 2026, 407.9 thousand tons of fuel were imported, about 8,199 tons less than the same period a year ago.

The decrease was influenced by the conflict in the Middle East; the month of March and the following brought a significant increase in the price of oil and gasoline in the country.

As for other excise goods, a decrease in imports during July 2026 is noted for cigarettes, coffee, and a slight increase for beer.
