Bomb Threats Target Multiple Institutions Across Albania, Police Say
A bomb threat has triggered an alert at several institutions in different cities across Albania this Thursday, according to the State Police.
Authorities said an email from an unidentified address was sent to the electronic addresses of several institutions, containing threatening and terrorist-related language and claiming that a bomb had been planted inside the buildings.
The message claimed the explosive would detonate within two hours and included references to the Islamic State and religiously motivated threats.
Police said security structures immediately launched checks at the institutions mentioned in the threats. No bomb or other explosive device has been found so far, according to authorities.
Albania’s Directorate for the Investigation of Cybercrime, working alongside the Directorate of Counterterrorism and other law-enforcement agencies, is continuing the investigation to identify the person behind the threats and trace the email address used to send the messages.
