General Prosecutor Attends 29th Conference of International Association of Prosecutors in Baku

General Prosecutor Olsian Çela participated in the 29th Annual Conference of the International Association of Prosecutors (IAP), held this year in Baku, Azerbaijan, from September 29 to October 2, 2024.

During the conference, discussions focused on key issues including transparency and public trust in justice institutions, the investigation and prosecution of domestic violence and gender-based crimes, best legal and procedural practices for victim protection, the application of artificial intelligence in the criminal justice system, challenges faced by the prosecution in the digital age, guaranteeing transparency and data protection in handling digital evidence and artificial intelligence, as well as international cooperation in the fight against cybercrime among other topics.

On October 1, 2024, he met with the General Prosecutor of Azerbaijan, Kamran Aliyev, and signed a memorandum of understanding between the two prosecutorial offices. This memorandum intends to facilitate the exchange of information regarding legislation, regulations, and the functioning of the criminal justice system, as well as to promote the sharing of expertise through participation in conferences, seminars, and various trainings.
