Giant 650 kg Shark Caught in Durres Waters
A giant shark is caught deep in the Adriatic, opposite the mouth of the Buna River. The shark was caught by Durrës fishermen with the boat "Geraldo". The shark weighed 650 kg.
The captain of the ship, Kapllan Rama, with 40 years of experience, said that the shark that had fallen into the net had slowed down the speed of the ship and was trying to tear the nets.
"We were fishing in the direction of the Buna estuary about 13 miles from the shore. When the depth gauge showed about 155 m water depth, we realized that the speed of the boat had dropped and that something big had fallen into our nets. After all, the big boats hit the bottom trawls and she gets what she's in front of her.
After we lifted the traps with the crane we saw the shark that was trying to tear the net. With the greatest care, we threw this sea monster on the deck. After lifting it on the crane, we found that it was about 6.5 m long and that it weighed about 650 kg", said the captain of the ship.
