GJKKO Gives Decision on Murderer of Ex-Policeman

The appeal of GJKKO (Special Court against Corruption and Organized Crime) has upheld the sentence of 28 years in prison for Ilir Selmani, accused of the murder of Santiago Malko.

Ilir Selmani appealed the May 3 decision of the Special Court for Corruption and Organized Crime, which sentenced him to 28 years in prison, but the appeal dismissed it.

As for Elvis Gacaj, sentenced to 7 years in prison as accused for the murder of the former policeman, the court decided to overturn the decision and send the acts related to this part of the criminal case for consideration by the Court of First Instance of General Jurisdiction in Tirana.

The former police officer, Santiago Malko, a friend of Ervis Martinaj, was killed with ten bullets in his car on the evening of August 27, 2019 near the "Porcelani" area in Tirana.

Santiago Malko once served in the ranks of the State Police and was then dismissed.
