Heavy Snowfall Causes Isolation in Different Parts of Albania
Bad weather has brought intense snowfall mainly in mountainous areas, causing problems in the north and southeast of Albania.
A resident of Lepusha in Shkoder county in communication with local media has appealed for help, as she says they have been isolated for the past three nights, with tourists being among the blocked persons.
“I am a resident of the village of Lepushë who works in tourism with a simple guesthouse. As the weather has worsened and 1 meter of snow has fallen, the tourists have been blocked, over 10 people because no one is taking measures to open the national road. The municipality says we do not have oil. There are 3 nights we are totally isolated. They have no communication with their families because there is no electricity! They also risk being fired from their jobs. We hope that you will help us," said the resident.
Problems with snow are reported even in the southeast of the country. For 14 days, the inhabitants of the village of Panarit in Korça have been blocked due to heavy snowfall.
Around 200 citizens live in this village, who for two weeks are isolated from the rest of this area as the road Shtyllë-Panarit is blocked. It is learned that the recent snowfall has increased the thickness of the snow, to 1 meter, thus making it impossible to intervene to open the road.
