Interior Minister Discusses TIMS System's Breach with US Official
The Minister of the Interior, Taulant Balla, met with the chargé d'affaires of the American embassy in Tirana, Martin McDowell.
Through a post on social networks, the embassy clarified the discussions between the two senior officials.
In the announcement of the embassy it is said that "McDowell expressed the concern of the US regarding the breach in the TIMS system in the State Police", requesting a quick and complete investigation.
McDowell also expressed to the minister that the US is ready to support the Ministry and the Albanian State Police in their investigation.
"Embassy Tirana Chargé d’Affaires H. Martin McDowell met with Minister of Interior Taulant Balla today. They discussed U.S.-Albania law enforcement cooperation and support on a range of security issues. CDA McDowell noted U.S. concerns regarding the reported TIMS systems breach at the Albanian State Police.
He urged a swift, thorough investigation and stressed the importance of protecting private/sensitive data, including that of American citizens in Albania. McDowell also told Minister Balla that the United States was ready to support the Ministry and Albanian State Police in their investigation," US Embassy stated.
