Interior Minister Meets Gdf Delegation Ahead of Anti-Cannabis Conference
Interior Minister, Bledi Çuçi received this Thursday a high delegation of the Italian Guardia di Finanza, accompanied by the Italian Ambassador Fabrizio Bucci, on the eve of the conference where the results in the anti-cannabis war for 2021 will be announced.
Minister Çuçi singled out two indicators that prove the effectiveness in this war, which are the multiplication of the price of cannabis several times, as well as the non-detection of any case of trafficking in narcotics by boat this year, to Italy.
For several years, GdF forces have been operating together with the State Police for strict monitoring of the territory in detecting attempts at cannabis cultivation, but also to crack down on attempts at illegal trafficking by sea.
The parties agreed to deepen cooperation, in order to increase security in the two countries. Of particular interest was the support of the Italian Police for the Security Academy, aiming to expand this cooperation.
The Minister of Interior decorated with the medal of honor two senior leaders of the Italian Guardia di Finanza, Brigadier General Giuseppe Arbore, Head of Unit III of the General Command of the Guardia di Finanza, and Lieutenant Colonel Stefano Lezzia head of the GdF Unit in Durrës.
The motivation is related to the contribution to the strengthening of the cooperation between the State Police of Albania and the Guardia di Finanza of Italy in the joint fight against crime, as well as the prominent support in the fight against the cultivation of narcotic plants and the prevention of illegal activity by the sea in both sides of the border.
