Vlora, Man Arrested for Extradition Purposes
A 51-year-old man, who was wanted internationally for drug trafficking, has been put in police custody this Monday morning.
Detained citizen is Besnik Osmëni, 51 years old, a resident of Vlora, after the Court of Appeal of Messina, Italy, has sentenced him to 8 years in prison, for the criminal offense "Trafficking in narcotics", provided for by the Italian Criminal Code.
Meanwhile, Interpol Tirana in cooperation with Interpol Rome and law enforcement agencies will be conducting procedures for the extradition of the 51-year-old to Italy.
"Services of DVP Vlorë and those of Interpol Tirana, following joint operations with European partners, as well as with the support of information intelligence, for the location of an internationally wanted citizen, have organized and finalized the coded police operation "Limit", as a result of which the citizen was caught in the "Pavarësia" neighborhood, Vlorë and temporarily arrested, with the aim of extradition to Italy:
