Knife Attack in Mosque, Imam: I Hope Is Not a Terrorist Act
The Imam of mosque 'Dine Hoxha' in the capital of Albania, Tirane, Ahmed Kalaja has reacted after a knife attack where five people were injured. Tearful he clarified that a person stabbed citizens who were inside the mosque and some pedestrians on the street.
"Today an armed person stabbed Muslim believers inside the mosque in Tirana. Thanks to God he was arrested. I want to publicly thank all Muslim believers who reacted immediately and I hope for the fast recovery of those injured. I hope this is not a terrorist attack but a crime realized by a person wih mental problems. In few hours the mosque will be the same," said the Imam.
A police statement said Rudolf Nikolli, 34, entered the Dine Hoxha mosque in downtown Tirana about 2:30 p.m. and wounded five people with a knife. Police reacted immediately and took him into custody.
