Kosovo Commemorates Vushtri Massacre's Victims

Serbian soldiers and policemen massacred many civilian Albanians in the cities during Kosovo war, and one of these massacres was the one carried out in Vushtrri on May 22, 1999.

During this day 24 years ago, the citizens of Vushtrri experienced severe horror from the murderous machinery of Slobodan Milosevic and Arkan's units.

Most of the citizens were forcibly removed from their homes, and forced to gather at the place as known "Te varrezat" in the city of Vushtrri.

Families in the former "Abdullah Shabani" street, now "22 Maji" street, have left their homes.

However, a group of 68 Albanians forced them to stop at Kahriman Pasoma's house.

Meanwhile, others from this neighborhood have forced them to go to the place called "Te varrezat" in Vushtrri.

During this time, they were robbed and money and valuables, such as gold, etc., were taken.

At the "cemetery", the gathered were divided into three groups: Women with children up to the age of 15, Young and middle-aged and elderly.

Some of those gathered, about 1000 people, were sent to the sports hall, where they were tortured in various ways, and then some were sent to Smrekonica prison (village north of Vushtrri) and some others to Albania .

Of all this painful crap, the 68 Albanians who were left in Kahriman Pasoma's house suffered the hardest and the worst.

They were tortured in inhuman ways, then they were all executed, most of them with a bullet in the head - in the forehead.

Among those executed were women and children aged 15, as well as old men and women.
