Luiza Gega Given 'Honorary Citizen' Title in Bulqiza

The European champion in athletics, in the 3000-meter steeplechase race, Luiza Gega, has been awarded the high title "Citizen of Honour" by the Bulqizë Municipality Council. This Monday, the Municipality of Bulqiza had organized a reception ceremony for the European champion who was born in the village of Okshtun. 

Dozens of citizens gathered in the square in front of the Municipality to welcome the champion, who made not only the people of Bulqiza proud, but all Albanians. The Mayor of Bulqiza, Lefter Alla, said that the people of Bulqiza are proud of Luiza Gega, who gave Albania a name in the European sports arena. 

Champion Luiza Gega thanked the municipality of Bulqiza for the award and said that she will continue to work hard to honour her hometown and all of Albania. 

After the triumph in Munich, Luiza Gega was received by Prime Minister Edi Rama in a state ceremony, awarding her with the "Big Cordon of Public Appreciation".
