Meloni to Visit Wednesday Albania, Inspection at Refugee Camps in Gjader

The Prime Minister of Italy, Gorgia Meloni, will visit this Wednesday Albania.

The news was confirmed by the Italian Government days ago.

Along with his counterpart, Edi Rama she will visit the area where the camp for the immigrants is being established.

This visit of Meloni comes within the framework of the Italian Culture Week in Albania, while the works for the emigrant camp that will be organized in Shengjin as part of the agreement for emigrants between Albania and Italy continue.

It is expected that apart from the meeting with Prime Minister Edi Rama, Meloni will inspect the two reception centers for immigrants in Shengjin and Gjadër in Lezha, where the works have started for almost two months. On November 6, Prime Minister Edi Rama and his Italian counterpart, Giorgia Meloni, signed an agreement according to which Italy will send to Albania the migrants who escape in the Mediterranean Sea, while Italy will finance the establishment of centers for their reception.

The agreement will start to be implemented in the spring of next year. According to the protocol published by the Albanian Government, Italy will deposit 16.5 million euros in a special account of the Treasury of Albania, as an advance for the housing of immigrants.
