Minister Calls for Vaccination as Flu Infections Increase Significantly
Minister of Health, Albana Koçiu gathered this Wednesday all structures to discus the epidemiologic situation in Albania.
After a significant increase of the infections in the last two weeks, minister calls for vaccination as the flu virus become much more aggressive.
In Albania, upper respiratory infections predominate with 14,000 cases per week, compared to lower respiratory infections with 5,700 cases. Since the second week of January, the number of infections has increased by 2,300 cases, or 12% more cases within a week.
"Based on the assessment of the epidemiological situation in the country, we met today with the leaders of health structures, where we focused on reporting on the measures being implemented to cope with the flu situation and to guarantee the protection of the health of citizens. Vaccination remains the most effective way to prevent complications from the flu. Prevention begins with a simple action: vaccination" said Minister.
