Minister of Defence Informs of Current Fires’ Situation in Albania
The Minister of Defence, Niko Peleshi has talked about the situation with the fires in Albania, where there are already problematic outbreaks in the North of the country.
Peleshi says that Llogara is considered as the hottest spot and they are working to avoid fire in the direction of the Park.
"In Karaburun we have two out of three hearths because in Grama Bay it is inactive, while it continues over Dukat and near Llogara Park. It was a very tiring night the last one. Only around 3-4 o'clock in the morning they made it possible for the fire to leave the village of Dukati. The buildings were endangered," said Peleshi.
There are two helicopters that have come from the Netherlands. The third helicopter is the Czech one and is in operation towards Thirra in the North, because it is one of the two problematic areas in Kukës. We want to avoid overcoming the fire towards Llogara Park ", said the Minister of Defence.
Current Situation
Despite the uninterrupted work of the increased operational forces, some fires still remain problematic in the territory of the country.
The fire in New Dukat is currently active. The critical point was isolated overnight by operational forces, eliminating the risk of fire passing through the village, but efforts to extinguish the flames continue from the ground and from the air. The situation near the Llogara National Park is serious, where all forces are concentrated, to enable the normalization and isolation of the flames. The structures are in pursuit of dynamics, which changes due to atmospheric conditions.
Another serious hearth is the one in the village of Thirrë, in the district of Lezha, where the work continues for the control by the Armed Forces, employees of local services, but also with air intervention. The most problematic area is the one at Rruna Peak, in Kukës, just above the Kalimash tunnel. Hearths have been brought under control in the area called Laku i Thive. The work continues in the part located in the village of Munella-Domgjon, in Mirdita, where there is an active situation.
Several new hearths have been reported, one in the village of Patalej in Lezha, another in Gjallica in Kukës with small dimensions and one in the village of Cakran in Fier, which was extinguished 10 days ago by the Armed Forces and has been reactivated. As a result of the deterioration of the situation and the extent of the flames, 40 members of the Armed Forces have come to the rescue.
A new hearth has been announced in the forest of the village of Gjorgos in Fier, where the firefighting forces of Rroskovec are engaged in extinguishing the fire. The fires in the village of Vermosh in Malësi e Madhe and in the Shetaj forest near Rodnon Cape in Durrës are under monitoring. These outbreaks do not pose a risk to residential areas.
