Minister Presents Initiative on Humanitarian Crisis at UN Security Council
The Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Igli Hasani, presented this Thursday to the Security Council, Albania's initiative to deal with humanitarian issues.
Referring to the unprecedented level of humanitarian needs that the world is facing, in his speech to the media, Hasani said that "experience has shown that millions of people, in different parts of the world, still remain without proper support. "
Cooperation with the private sector, according to Hasani, has become vital, and is no longer an option, but a necessity.
Through the United Nations Alliance, the minister said, the aim is to engage in corporations and philanthropy, with the aim of improving resources as well as increasing response efforts.
"It is our pleasure to announce the creation of the Private Sector Humanitarian Alliance, as a coordinating body to respond to humanitarian crises that will serve as a unique entry point for the private sector in the humanitarian architecture, including the UN.
Through the Alliance, we aim to engage corporations and philanthropies, together with key UN agencies and civil society, to record and collect all impressions and comments on key gaps and areas for improvement in crisis response, exploring the mechanisms of potential to formalize the role of corporations and philanthropies in the crisis response ecosystem, improve resource utilization, and enhance response efforts.
It is a first step, but we believe, a bold one to showcase the expertise of the public sector in dealing with complex crises and to create more comprehensive, flexible and effective solutions to properly respond to growing needs."
According to him, "this is the first step, to show the expertise of the public sector in dealing with complex crises and to create more comprehensive, flexible and effective solutions to properly respond to the growing needs."
