Ministry Reacts on Chaotic Situation at Kakavija

Albanian Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs shed light this Friday on the chaotic situation at Kakavija border crossing point, explaining that it had contacted the Greek side and the delays were not caused by the police, but by the health authorities.

Kilometre-long queues have been created at this border crossing point, following the decision of Greek side to suspend the work from 22:00 until 06:00 every day.

"A meeting was held with the leaders of the Greek side and we emphasize that the problem on the move is not created by the Greek police or customs authorities, but by the health authorities at the Border Crossing Point of the Greek side.

While at the Kapshtica Border Crossing Point, the work continues normally, at other border crossings, the Greek side does not carry out entry / exit procedures, for vehicles and citizens, but only proceeds in urgent cases," the Ministry explained.

Starting from 17 August 2020, Albanian citizens will be allowed to enter Greece only by showing the negative test of Covid-19, which must be performed in Albania.
