Noka Excludes Possibility of Berisha Withdrawing from DP Chair

Lulzim Basha's resignation on Monday seemed to pave the way for the unification of the Democrats. But the conditions set by the official DP for the members of the Re-establishment Commission related to Berisha's ban on running for party chairman, are pushing the parties even further to find a solution.

The Acting chairman of the Democratic Party, Enkelejd Alibeaj, just two hours after the departure of Lulzim Basha, through a draft resolution approved by the parliamentary group, asked the expelled MPs to return to the party, but on the condition that they find the mechanism not allowing Sali Berisha to run for the leadership of the party, as well as to leave him out of any function in the DP again.

For MP Flamur Noka, no one can impose such conditions on Sali Berisha, especially according to him by persons who have only the status of MP, as they were fired by the membership on December 11.

"Who are these people talking about unification? Who is Enkelejd Alibeaj? He is just a colleague, an MP, like Flamur Noka today. Why? Because both Alibeaj and Basha were fired by the Assembly on December 11, together with the steering committee appointed by Basha", said Noka.

Noka further stressed that Berisha will not only not withdraw, but will develop another unification tour throughout Albania. Noka stated that part of Berisha's tour will be those MPs who until yesterday were neutral, emphasizing that the unification of Democrats is done only through voting and not through conditions.
