PBDNJ's Head Accuses PM of Aimimg to 'Grab' Property on Banks of Ionian Sea
Head of the Union Party for Human Rights (PBDNJ), Vangjel Dule, said this Friday that the government and especially Prime Minister Edi Rama with his policies aims to seize property from the legal owners on the banks of the Ionian and use them in favor of his clientelistic interests.
In a statement to the media from the Assembly Headquarters, Dule added that the next report of the KiE Advisory Committee on the convention on the protection of the rights of members of national minorities emphasizes that measures should be taken against hate speech against these communities.
Furthermore, he recalled the case of distance clashes between Prime Minister Rama and Fredi Beleri, who was competing for the municipality of Himare, during the campaign for the May 14 elections, stating that there was no widespread reaction to the case.
"We are the only country in the Western Balkans that does not have such a practice and we do not guarantee the fundamental right of representation of national minorities. On the other hand, the report strongly emphasizes that effective protective policies should be taken and drafted, especially for the Greek national minority, in order that the development policies do not affect their cultivation of culture, property and the right to economic development is not limited.
A phenomenon that we have continuously denounced, especially with the policies of the government and the prime minister, that for years has had the strategic goal of grabbing property from the legal owners, especially on the banks of the Ionian, and placing them through tricks in favor of his clientelistic interests.
On the other hand, the report also pays attention to the territorial reform of 2014 and finds that it violated the rights of minority members. The government should sit down with their members and consult to get the necessary legislative and executive acts in order to put these injustices in place.
The report states that action must be taken against hate speech and hate crime against national minorities. Go back in time and remember Rama's terminology to Freddy Beleri. Was there a reaction to that hate speech? Was there a reaction to that phenomenon from public opinion, the media or politics except in limited cases", said Dule among other things.
