PM Believes Berisha’s Public Designation by US is His ‘Merit’
Prime Minister Edi Rama has talked about the accusations of lobbying for his predecessor and Former Head of Democratic Party (DP), Sali Berisha's public designation and stressed that this is 100% historical leader’s merit and has nothing to do with external factors.
From the US, the Albanian said that to claim such a thing means to accuse the United States of corruption, which he described as absurd and pronounced that if it was otherwise, US would be in dictatorship.
"Sali Berisha's declaration non grata is 100% of Sali Berisha's merit. for all that they have proclaimed non grata. To say that the US government can be influenced by external factors for decisions of this nature is to accuse the US of being a state without integrity and a government that is corrupt for the purposes of third parties.
These are decisions that are made with well-defined processes and have nothing to do with external factors. If the US were to lobby so easily they would be held hostage to dictatorships and regimes. This has not happened and there is no way it can happen., The US has a different approach and a different way of working. It is all a farce to be regretted and even more unfortunate are those who believe it. Sali Berisha's issues are of the past", said Rama.
Meanwhile, he mentioned some of the points of discussion in the Security Council and during the meeting with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken.
"We achieved what we wanted when we started with the organization yesterday when we were together in New York where we had a wide audience for our messages to the Security Council and in the meeting with the US Secretary where we grasped the topic of our cooperation with the US. I think we have known how to build on the previous foundation and take our policy to another level. This is not my personal merit but of all those who have cooperated with me", said Rama.
