PM Discusses Price Hikes with Albanian Importers, Exporters
Prime Minister Edi Rama has held this Wednesday a meeting with importers and exporters of Albania, during which he spoke of the sovereign guarantee offered in the price increase crisis situation.
In the gathering, the Head of Government underlined that the Russian invasion in Ukraine has impacted all trade relations and that the sovereign guarantee has been provided so that everyone involved in the staple food chain has the opportunity to spend more than usual.
"From the energy crisis to the supply chain crisis due to the war in Ukraine in the first place that has impacted all international relations in a small world where all interactions are interconnected. The creation of these 2 boards is an anti-system effort in the sense that it is neither unnatural nor advisable while we have established this free market system, where the state must intervene. That is why we have done this politely towards the system, but such a war situation is not natural. You know what the difficulty is in the chain.
80% of urea is produced in Ukraine for Europe. So are the other interconnected links. Meanwhile, we understand your situation of financial uncertainty but also of general uncertainty how long this situation will last. What if this situation is eased first, so we have set up a sovereign guarantee for you that you can take it and use it to get even more supply than usual to have for a longer term?
Whatever is left will be taken by the state, it is not that it will be left unsold and thus you will lose your money.
This guarantee is for this purpose that all those who are involved in the food chain with raw materials have the opportunity to spend more than usual. To have extra reserve. This extra reserve is a state reserve. Everything that remains will be taken by the state. You will not lose a penny", proclaimed PM Rama.
