President Urges Youth to Take Control of Politics

"The time has come for the youth to wake up and take control of their fate and the future of the Western Balkan countries," said President Ilir Meta during a meeting with a group of young people from the OSCE program in Albania "Youth Trail", which aims to promote the cooperation of Albanian youth with their peers from all Western Balkan countries.

The meeting was also attended by the OSCE Ambassador, Vincenzo Del Monaco, while the Head of State stressed the importance of engagement and active involvement of young people in politics and decision-making, to accelerate the integration processes of our countries and consolidate the achievements so far for peace, security and stability in the region.

"The time has come for the youth to wake up and take control of their own destiny and that of the future of the Western Balkan countries. For this it is necessary for the youth to be united and interactive, especially to promote accountability at every level and to reject governing policies that do not listen to them, do not include them and do not give you an opportunity to unleash their potential.

My great concern is the depopulation, especially the departure of young people, which poses a very serious threat to the future of our countries, especially Albania. It is essential to restore hope and confidence to young people, to create all the spaces to build in their country, a secure European future," said President Meta.
