President Vjosa Osmani to Represent Kosovo in December 6 Summit

President Vjosa Osmani, will represent Kosovo at the summit between the European Union and the countries of the Western Balkans, which will be held in Tirana on December 6. 

During a meeting in Pristina, the EU ambassador in Kosovo, Tomas Sznunyog, handed Osmani the physical copy of the invitation from the president of the European Council, Charles Michel, the office of the president of Kosovo said. 

"The meeting appreciated the fact that for the first time, this summit will be held in the Western Balkans, confirming the readiness of the EU countries for a greater commitment towards cooperation and partnership with the countries of the region", it was said in the notice. 

The summit in Tirana will be the first between the EU and the Western Balkans to take place on the territory of a non-EU country in the region. 

In this meeting, the leaders of the European Union are expected to pledge support and acceleration of the EU enlargement process, with representatives of the Western Balkan countries. 

They are also expected to ask the countries of the region to prove their commitment to common values. These orders will be part of the so-called "Declaration of Tirana", the draft of which has been provided by Radio Free Europe. 

The draft statement also welcomes the implementation of the agreement on the abolition of roaming for mobile phones at the regional level, while it calls for the reduction of roaming charges between the EU and the countries of the Western Balkans in 2023, with the aim of their complete abolition in 2023. late. 

The text also contains the commitment to the energy sector, digital infrastructure, infrastructure and environmental protection projects. 

This summit comes at a time when Russia's war in Ukraine has brought major changes to the international order. Its consequences are expected to be discussed at the Tirana summit.
