Prostitution Ring Led by Albanian's Wife Dismantled in Greece
Greek authorities have hit a prostitution network, which was run by a 40-year-old woman from Uzbekistan who was arrested and an Albanian was also a part of it.
According to local media, the Police has identified a 35-year-old Albanian as her husband, another woman from Uzbekistan and a Bulgarian, who transported the girls to Athens.
Prostitution network was dismantled after a woman's attempt to escape from the "claws" of the gang, as a result of which she was rescued by the residents of Vathi Square who alerted the Police.
According to the investigation of the Police Department of Anti-Trafficking in Human Beings, the 40-year-old woman and her 35-year-old partner "fished" young girls from Uzbekistan by offering them "golden" jobs in Greece.
After the girls went illegally to Greece, they were then treated in inhumane conditions, keeping them prisoners in apartments in the center of Athens.
The pimps controlled two brothels, on Iasonos Street in the Omonia area and on Kolonou Street in Metaxourgeio. There, they extradite their "victims" in deplorable conditions, threatening or abusing them to pay "debts" to the network.
The 40-year-old Uzbek woman did not hesitate to rape girls who resisted in order to be an example to others. The matter came to "light" after the denunciation of a girl who fell into the "nets" of trafficking last March.
The girl originally from Uzbekistan learned from an acquaintance a job in Greece with good salaries. Because she was in a bad financial situation, she contacted the 40-year-old via the Internet, who convinced her to come and work in two brothels she operated with her partner in Athens.
The tutor told her that it was a legal job and she would earn 600 euros a day. After she managed to convince him to come to Greece, she took over the travel expenses and assigned an associate to help her until she left Uzbekistan.
The unfortunate girl, together with another "victim" of the district, crossed the border on foot to Evros, where a Bulgarian, member of the gang, was waiting for them.
He undertook to transport them in his car to Athens and deliver them to the pimp couple. Initially, the 40-year-old Uzbek received the girl in an apartment, in Michael Voda, and then, without informing her, submitted an online application for an illegal residence permit in Greece on her behalf.
In fact, he owed her 1,000 euros for both the residence permit and the cost of the trip from Uzbekistan to Athens. From then until last Wednesday, the girl's nightmare began.
The 40-year-old Uzbek woman and the 35-year-old Albanian man forced her to live every day, without a day off, and in poor sanitary conditions in an apartment on Iasonos Street.
The unfortunate girl waited for customers for 12 hours without a break even on days when she was menstruating... And all this for 10 euros that she had to give to the pimps as repayment of the debt to the district or as rent for the apartment where she lived.
While the 40-year-old woman from Uzbekistan and her partner had benefited more than 37 thousand euros from the exploitation of their victim.
In early June, the girl secretly sent her mother in Uzbekistan 1,500 euros from the money earned from the brothel. The 40-year-old tutor realized this and went to the brothel on Wednesday afternoon to "punish" him.
There he began to brutally beat the "victim" in front of the two girls as an example to others. Then, he took him to an apartment, on Neophytou Metaxa Street, threatened him with a knife, punched him in the head and continued to hit him with a chair on his body and legs.
In an attempt to escape the fury of the merciless tutor, she went to the balcony and tried to jump from the first floor. The neighbors, thinking that the unfortunate girl was trying to kill herself, notified the Immediate Action, which raided the apartment.
The girl from Uzbekistan was taken to the hospital with severe head injuries and bruises all over her body, while the police handcuffed the 40-year-old, who threatened the girl not to report her.
Yesterday morning, the Anti-Trafficking in Human Beings Police Department conducted a search in two apartments of the organization, on Neophytou Metaxa street, where 2600 euros, a mobile phone, a passport and bank transactions were found and seized.
The 40-year-old and her associates were charged with Criminal Organization, Human Trafficking and Violation of the Immigration and Social Integration Code.
On Friday, the pimp appeared before the court, while the girl returned to Uzbekistan at her request.
