Rama Called a Positive Development Election of New Mayor of Himara

Prime Minister Edi Rama reacted after the election of the new mayor of Himara. In a short statement, he called the election “a positive development for the continuation of the work of the local government”.

According to Premier, most of the citizens of Himara are not part of the conflict as he accused the today's protest as a failed tentative to block the election.

"Today's election by the Municipal Council of Himara, with 15 votes in favor and only 4 against, of the deputy mayor, Blerina Bala, as acting mayor is a positive development for the continuation of the work of the local government. The failed attempt by a handful of motivated individuals to prevent this development based on the relevant legal obligation of the City Council clearly demonstrated the simple fact that the vast majority of Himariots do not belong in the trenches of conflict, division and absurd amplification of primitive strife. , which feeds on interests and accounts that have nothing to do with the interests of Himara," said premier.
