Regulation on State Police Changed

The government has changed the regulation for the State Police, which is published in the Official Gazette, and entered into force. For the first time, it is stipulated that pregnant police officers and those with children under the age of 1 cannot be ordered to perform night service.

Also, police officers, in the apparent months of pregnancy, will not wear police uniforms.

The new regulation prohibits insults during and off duty by police officers, both to colleagues and to citizens. Those police officers who use offensive vocabulary will be demoted and their rank will be extended. It is also foreseen a ban the telephone and social networks, including Facebook, during the duty, for reasons that are not related to work. Even outside the service, police officers should be careful with photos or materials they post on social media, as they may negatively affect public perception.

The changes oblige police officers to protect confidential information even after leaving office, while categorically prohibiting the use of the formation gathered due to duty for other purposes. Under the new regulation, a structure responsible for storing and administering weapons to the police maintains a central register of weapons and ammunition. This register is kept simultaneously in electronic form and in a special book.

Also for the first time the transfer of police officers to other state structures is allowed.
