RP Sees 'Gramshi Incident' as Putin's Attempt for Tension in Balkans

The head of the Republican Party (RP), Fatmir Mediu, emphasized that Russian President Vladimir Putin aims to create other conflict and tension in the Balkan region after the invasion of Ukraine.

While condemning the attack by the Russians against two Albanian soldiers at the Gramshi Military Plant, Mediu stated that Albania is clearly targeted by Moscow as an opponent.

"Appreciating the soldiers for their endurance and carrying out their duties, we wish them a speedy recovery. It is requested that the Ministry of Defense, the General Staff, the Army Information Service and the National Information Service in support of the Prosecutor's Office seriously investigate this attack, an unprecedented aggression in Albanian territory, moreover against our soldiers, in a military territory by citizens Russian.

Russia and Putin aim to create other conflict and tension in the Balkan region after Russia's illegal occupation of Ukraine. Albania has been clearly defined by Putin and Moscow as an opponent of Russia.

It is not the first time that Russian services operate in our territory and in the Balkans. I remember the explosions in Romania and Bulgaria organized by the Russians. Russian services under the diplomatic guise have long tried to corrupt Albanian military and civilians for their subversive purposes.

Albanian military service has information from various sources about the coordination of Russian, Serbian and Macedonian services against Albania before receiving the invitation for NATO membership.

Unfortunately, we have never properly analyzed every information or event. I want to remind you that Russia and Serbia tried to organize a coup against Montenegro to eliminate President Djukanovic before Montenegro joined NATO.

The provocations in Kosovo are a coordinated policy between Russia and Serbia. There is an urgent need to build a National Security Agency which examines and follows all issues related to National Security. We are the only country in the world that has a National Security Council that is not functional at all, and unfortunately we treat security issues in a dilettantish way", declared Mediu.
